Crimes of Passion

Ken Russell's second Hollywood film is a deliriously excessive erotic thriller with Kathleen Turner as an imperilled prostitute.

The second Hollywood film by Britain's enfant terrible, Ken Russell, is a deliriously demented erotic thriller with Kathleeen Turner as the ballsy hooker playing dangerous games with two unstable clients. One is a guilt-tormented private detective (John Laughlin) while the other is a deeply disturbed preacher (Anthony Perkins) wielding a weaponised vibrator.

Russell's neon-saturated fever-dream is an irresistible slice of perverse '80s excess, which pulses to a staccato synth score by prog-rock-god Rick Wakeman.
