Peter Cushing fires up the Tardis for the Doctor’s big-screen debut, as he and his companions travel to a devastated planet to help the persecuted Thals in their battle against the villainous Daleks.

While Amicus’ adaptation made some surprising alterations to established Who lore (here the Doctor is an intrepid earthling rather than a nomadic alien), this highly entertaining Technicolor adventure is no less entertaining than it’s TV incarnation, with set-pieces and special effects that transcend the former’s studio-bound limitations.
