A young woman (Oscar-nominee Anna Kendrick) is forced to examine her emotionally abusive relationship when she takes a rare trip with friends.
When Alice (Kendrick) is invited to celebrate a birthday at a lakeside house, the extent of her abusive relationship becomes all too apparent to childhood friends Tess and Sophie (Wunmi Mosaku, Sinners). Stalked by phone pings from her boyfriend Simon’s constant messaging and driven to literally tearing her hair out, her worried friends stage an intervention. However, Simon won’t be ignored so easily.
Mary Nighy’s debut feature film tackles a subject rarely seen on screen – an abusive relationship that doesn’t leave visible bruises, but one that is equally devastating. A quietly compelling drama with a deeply vulnerable performance from Kendrick at its heart.
