Michele Soavi’s compelling concoction of anarchic Evil Dead-style horror-comedy, tragic romance and gore. Rupert Everett stars as a grave-digger at the Buffalora Cemetery where, seven days after burial, the cadavers come back to life. His attempts to curtail the zombie epidemic are complicated when he falls in love with a widow who visits the cemetery.

Director Soavi was a protégé of Dario Argento’s and seemed destined to follow in his footsteps as one of Italian cult cinema’s great stylists, but Dellamorte Dellamore brought an end to his acclaimed run of 1980/90s horror films. Sadly the film also turned out to represent a last great gasp for the golden age of Italian genre cinema.
