Slumdog Millionaire

Danny Boyle’s crowdpleaser, based around the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, won the Oscar for best picture.

Danny Boyle’s critical and commercial smash follows the rags-to-possible-riches of a young man who lives in Mumbai’s slums, whose strong performance on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, arouses suspicions that he might be cheating. As he recounts his story, however, it becomes clear that key events from his life have helped his success.

The film won eight Oscars, including best picture and best director.
