Highly controversial in its day (it was once banned in the UK), this adaptation of a H.G. Wells novel has lost none of its power to grip and disturb. A shipwrecked sailor finds himself on a remote island run by the mad scientist Dr Moreau, who, through his bizarre genetic experiments, has created the strange half human/half animal creatures that populate the island. Can our hero escape the same fate?
