Jack Arnold’s monster classic about the discovery of a prehistoric, amphibious Gill-man that takes a shine to a female expeditionary.
A group of scientists discover an isolated black lagoon that hosts a prehistoric, amphibious Gill-man. The creature doesn’t take kindly to being disturbed and soon takes a shine to the girlfriend of one of the scientists.
The second in a run of sci-fi/monster films from director Jack Arnold, between It Came From Outer Space (1953) and Tarantula (1955), Creature from the Black Lagoon was originally filmed in 3-D during the technique’s first boom. Many of the film’s underwater scenes bear a marked resemblance to Steven Spielberg’s work in the later aquatic adventure, Jaws (1975).
