1980s family sci-fi at its best, as twelve-year-old David disappears for eight years and awakens to discover his brain has been filled with intergalactic star charts. When the talking spacecraft that kidnaps him returns to retrieve the charts, David is caught between his family, the authorities and the alien spaceship with which he has bonded.
Flight of the Navigator was a project originally developed at Disney but eventually produced out of house as a Norwegian co-production, resulting in slightly edgier fare than most family sci-fi films of the era.
