Filmmaker Anna Rose Holmer broke out big with this riveting and exciting portrayal of adolescence and dancer. Toni (Royalty Hightower) is an eleven year-old tomboy frequently focused on gym training – that is, until she joins a local dance team that gives her a new purpose. However, an unexplained epidemic of seizures soon infiltrates the gang and it’s up to Toni to take control. Holmer infuses a rare cinematic energy into her work, fascinating in its kinetic motion and attention to detail.

The Fits played at several film festivals throughout the world, including Venice, Sundance, and, appropriately, Lincoln Center's New Directors/New Films. Holmer is a talent to behold and this is just the first step in an exciting career.
