Twinky

12 rating

Richard Donner directs this unlikely romance between a 38-year-old writer of erotic novels (Charles Bronson) and a 16-year-old schoolgirl (Susan George). After marrying and absconding to Scotland, the pair finds it hard to adjust to life together.

Likely inspired by Christian Marquand’s Candy from the previous year, Twinky (known in America as Lola) exemplifies the popular late 1960s/early 1970s plot device that pairs a free-spirited younger woman with a middle-aged man – also seen in films such as Save the Tiger and Clint Eastwood’s Breezy.
