Scum

18 rating

Director Alan Clarke examines the grim reality of borstal life in this searing remake of his previously banned television play.

With his original 1977 television play banned for being too violent (or perhaps, too honest) Clarke remade Scum for cinema. Ray Winstone is terrifyingly convincing as a violent youth, alongside a host of recognisable faces from British film and television, in this unflinching portrayal of borstal life.
