A Traction Wedding

A steam traction engine provides the transport for the special day

Bride and Groom climb on board a steam traction engine and hope to get to the church on time. The groom is Russell Randell and the bride is Carol Andrews and the ceremony stars the Burrell Showman steam traction engine used to convey the happy couple to the village hall in Netherbury in Dorset.

A traction is a self-propelled steam engine used to move heavy loads on roads, to plough the earth or provide steam power. They are cumbersome and hard to manoeuvre but very much part of our industrial heritage and restored and loved by many enthusiasts who after the Second World War began buying them up and restoring them. They are often seen at agricultural shows and vintage rallies.
