Aberdeen Newsreel No. 2
Aberdonians prove their grit in a moving amateur newsfilm of war-ravaged buildings and family fun in Hazlehead Park.
Overview
Aberdonians show they're made of sturdy stuff in these contrasting scenes filmed in the summer of 1940. The first part shows newsfilm of the aftermath of a Luftwaffe air attack with bomb-damaged buildings, including the frontage of the Nepture Bar, and rescued household furniture standing forlornly in the rubble. In the second part, defiant locals have some fun in spite of the bombers, with picnics and frolics in Hazlehead Park.
