The re-introduction of NHS prescription charges in 1968, three years after their abolition by the Wilson government, caused friction between patients’ groups and the Pharmaceutical Society. Here, the Society’s President Alan Aldington discusses plans to be put before Government to alleviate embarrassment for those having to reveal hardship at the pharmacy counter.
