Bolton, founder members of the football league, had two seasons in the second division between 1903 and 1905, so we know that this film captures one of their two home wins against Burton United, a club that lasted only nine years. Whether it's 1903's 3-0 victory or the following year's 7-1 trouncing, the cameraman made a shrewd decision in choosing the goalmouth attacked by Bolton, in white.
