Seaside play at Rhyl - charmingly filmed by Wales' first filmmaker

This simple and endlessly charming seaside scene was filmed at his local beach by Arthur Cheetham, the Rhyl-based cinema owner who, starting with this film, became the first ever filmmaker based in Wales. According to the late Dave Berry, pre-eminent historian of Welsh film, the footage was shot in January of 1898 (which must have been chilly for the kids!) and first screened in Rhyl Town Hall.
