Vivid views of pre-war Hong Kong.

Edward G. Phillips made numerous 16mm films in Hong Kong and mainland China, many of them available on BFI Player. His films paint a vivid, sometimes intimate picture of place and people the view of an amateur filmmakers who is both outsider to Hong Kong (whose harbour is here seen, literally, from his verandah) and insider within its expat community (seen here on hiking hols and at a Protestant christening).
