Cricket takes a back seat in this film from 1967 which concentrates more on the spectators, their fashions and colourful examples of millinery
This richly atmospheric film from John Clague, filmed at Kent County Cricket Club's ground at St Lawrence, Canterbury focuses, unusually, on spectators rather than the match. People arrive at the ground, chat and seat themselves in deckchairs. Women's hats predominate, even during a lunch where watermelon is on the menu. We then see more hats at a wedding. Guests arrive followed by the bride. After the service the married couple and guests mingle at the garden reception.
