F.A. Cup Final 1949
Wembley welcomes Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City for the 1949 FA Cup Final.
Overview
In hats, scarves and graffitied cars - with big grins on their faces and hope in their hearts - the fans converge on Wembley, the temple of football. The wonderful excitement and pomp of an FA Cup final is captured in these few minutes of footage - even if you don't understand the Spanish commentary! Wolverhampton (in dark shorts) had been here before, and won, but for Leicester City this was a first. Sadly there's some chemical damage to the film towards the end and it's incomplete, so we don't get to see Wolves lift the cup.
The film was clearly prepared for a Spanish audience, presumably from newsreel footage, but it's not clear where this footage originally came from.
