Railway services on the Golden Valley line in Herefordshire slip into history.
The final train ran on the Golden Valley line along the Dore valley in Herefordshire on 30 January, 1953. By then the line ran from Pontrilas to Dorestone but a few years earlier it had continued to Hay-on-Wye. Here we see passengers crowding into some of the final services as well as the actual last train, a far more subdued affair with officials and two guard's vans making up the train. The station master at Peterchurch locking his office for the final time is a poignant moment.
