In the Queen’s silver jubilee year, Halkyn has more than one queen attending the It’s a Knockout tournament at its attractive cricket ground. Representing the area’s senior citizens is a regal lady in red but the inclement weather requires her to cover up with a coat. There are races for children before the tournament proper which involves water, a trampoline, mattresses and silver foil. A poor puppy gets a dunking and hot dogs are on sale to keep the spirits up on this wet day.
