Launching of Genetta IV at Dickies Yard Bangor

The yacht, Genetta IV, takes to the water at Dickies Bangor, where she was made, bedecked with bunting, cheered by crowds and launched by a woman in a flowery hat.

The launch of Genetta IV was filmed by Isla Johnston, only child of Edmund Johnston of the Liverpool-based Johnston Line shipping company. Her home was the mansion – ‘Bryn Mкl’ - that her father had had built at Glyngarth, overlooking the Menai Strait, and here she kept dairy cows and grew fruit and vegetables. She took a great delight in cars - and yachts in which she raced – and was a beloved aunt/godmother to many. She filmed family, friends and local events.
