A soldier scarred by torture at the hands of African natives is rescued by a gypsy

Like many silent films, this is incomplete and runs about half of its original length; it also contains a sing-along sequence of a song called Mother Mine which appears to have been cut in from a different film. Who inserted this and why is a mystery!
