Welcome to 'Maidenhead-sur-Mer' - waterlogged scenes of Thames Valley flooding from January 1926.

So this is Staines, but not as we know it! Topical Budget's newsreel cameras survey the deluged backyards and waterlogged streets of towns up and down the Thames Valley in the wake of a major flood. The intertitles introduce us to "Miserable Marlow", "Oozy Oxford" and "Maidenhead-sur-Mer" - playing sardonically, perhaps, on the picturesque scenes of the travelogue genre, popular in the 1920s.
