Colour picture of Christianity in pre-revolutionary China
An intriguing - if not unbiased - account of the presence of protestant Christianity in China shortly before the Communist revolution. Explicitly linking religion and politics, it focuses on the work of Christian universities and was filmed as a low-budget semi-professional production, using colour reversal 16mm film stock, by the United Board for Christian Colleges in China. Although the organisation and the film were both American, a copy ended up in the hands of an English religious organisation whose film collection later entered the BFI National Archive.
