St. Helens Health Week - 1923

Demonstrating care for the community in Lancashire.

Care for the very young is in the spotlight in St Helens in October 1923, as proud mothers watch their babies being weighed by nurses in starched white uniforms. This is all part of the town's Health Week, conducted under the benign gaze of the mayor, who receives a guided tour of the hospital and grounds to observe health provision for the local community and chat to some of the patients.

The preservation of this film was funded by a grant from the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
