Hove's newly renovated George Street is officially opened by the Queen in this short 1962 film from David A Chesterfield
We start with a man and a woman sweeping their garden's terrace, steps and path. Model yachts are seen being sailed on still waters at Shoreham Harbour. The lock that give access to the lagoon is opened for cabin cruiser traffic. We end with scenes in Hove showing HRH the Queen and Prince Philip, accompanied by several local dignitaries, on a walkabout along the newly restored and re-opened George Street. Crowds wave as the Royal couple are driven away in their limousine.
