With grim news from the Boer War, a popular military commander is given a fond farewell as he leaves to take command
With much of its resources already in South Africa, the Warwick Trading Company managed to expand its coverage of the Second Boer War with this film of Lord Roberts leaving to take command of the flagging campaign. Travelling on the same ship as his predecessor, and greeted by Captain Rigby, Lord Roberts is given an enthusiastic farewell. Filmed on 23 December 1899, the film was exhibited very soon afterward.
