A Last Resort

Rose is desperate to celebrate her 60th birthday in style, but her daughter Genevieve is struggling to ignore some recent tragic news about her mum.

Rose, a flamboyant, wannabe movie star, is turning 60 and she's determined to celebrate like it's 1999. But her reluctant partner in crime is her daughter Genevieve: a buttoned-up, emotionally guarded woman barely holding it together after stumbling upon some devastating family truths. What begins as a day of forced celebration slowly unravels into something far messier-and more meaningful.

Inspired by true events, this short is a darkly comic exploration of the complexities of caregiving, the emotional cost of silence, and the strange, often ridiculous rituals we perform to avoid saying what really needs to be said. Produced by Anna Griffin, A Last Resort was made with the support of BFI NETWORK, awarding National Lottery funding. Contains mature themes.
