Workers surge through the great gates of a Victorian engineering works.
Some of these employees would have surely enjoyed spotting themselves when the film was projected at the local Gorton Wakes a few days later. A contemporary Gorton Reporter review conveys the popularity of these films: "The local scenes, as usual, were the great draw... shouts of approval were frequently heard as some well-known person or the features of someone in the audience were recognised".
Galloways, established by brothers William and John Galloway in 1835, specialised in the manufacture of boilers. This site was located on Hyde Road near to the original Manchester City football ground; the northeastern end of the stadium was known as the 'Galloway End'.
