An all-male Edwardian crowd is filmed leaving work in the north western town.
The Furness company had a longstanding (and very local) presence in Edwardian Britain's privately-owned railway industry. The iron gate of its Barrow works makes a fine backdrop for the frenetic goings-on in the foreground of this film. Given Furness's trade, it's little surprise that there are no women present, but there's an engaging range of hats, facial hair and reactions to the camera.
