In 1982, British Rail announced a 60 million pound modernisation scheme to deliver railway electrification to East Anglian lines, promising more reliable, comfortable, cleaner, quieter, and faster trains. This film sponsored by British Rail and produced by the University of East Anglia’s Film Production Unit follows the work of the rail engineers through the entire electrification process, emphasising modernity and efficiency of practise.
