Family life in colonial India – amateur footage of a little girl with her British mother and Chinese amah
The little girl, Georgina, who is the main focus of this film, was born in Shanghai in 1939. Her family fled Shanghai for India soon afterwards, with her Chinese amah, living first in Calcutta, then in Simla. Her father worked for the Mercantile Bank of India. This film may have been made as the family travelled to Simla. Georgina later gave her family films to the BFI National Archive.
