Mark Duplass stars in the indie time-travel comedy that won a major prize at Sundance and set director Colin Trevorrow on the road to Jurassic World.
A trio of journalists follow the trail of a mysterious classified ad requesting a companion for a time-travelling expedition. But instead of an eccentric boffin they find Kenneth (Mark Duplass), an embittered grocery clerk who yearns to go back in time to save the life of his former girlfriend. Eventually one of the reporters, Darius (Aubrey Plaza), earns his trust and they begin to work together to evade the government agents on his trail and complete Kenneth’s fantastic mission.
Director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly took a notorious real-life advertisement (in reality a plant by a Backwoods Home Magazine employee) for inspiration, yet their film has real depth and charm, earning Connolly a screenwriting prize at Sundance Film Festival and landing Trevorrow the directing gig for Hollywood behemoth Jurassic World.
