The Solihull centre that offered training for an eager workforce traditionally rejected by the world of work.
In 1974 the Adult Training and Social Education Centre in Solihull offered work training for local people with learning difficulties. With the West Midlands a centre of industry it was a logical home for the centre which obtains the maximum potential from trainees as principal Pat O'Gorman explains. From making chess pieces to rocking chairs it's a hive of industry and a world away from the barriers usually erected to prevent people with disabilities from working.
