Dramatic newsreel showing the mangled wreckage of an express train being hoisted from the track
It's highly likely that the incident recorded in this newsreel is the aftermath of a train crash on 4 October 1929, when the 5.05am newspaper express from London Liverpool St to Norwich and a freight train collided after the latter passed a danger signal at Tottenham Hale. Fortunately there were no fatalities, but the silhouetted image of the derailed locomotive, No. 2808 Gunton, being hoisted from the tracks conveys the drama and emotion of the incident.
