Members of the Old Girls' Association of Carmarthen's Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Girls meet on the school courts with some gentlemen.
There are plenty of takers for a tennis party on a summer's day in June, held at Carmarthen's Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Girls by members of the Old Girls' Association. The ladies no doubt remember matches on these very courts in their youth but the gentlemen present are later additions – husbands, perhaps, if not members of the Old Boys' Association of the town's Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys.
Shot by George H Weaks, a professional photograper with a studio at 121 Lammas Street, Carmarthen. He may have known a fellow Carmarthenshire photographer from the same era – Stanley W Phillips, who had a studio in St Clears and who collaborated on some productions with fellow film enthusiast W H Buckley of ‘Castell Gorfod’, Llangynin. The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales holds films made by both.
