Hay's third film for Ealing Studios is stuffed with memorable sequences, including the notoriously hilarious classroom scene (featuring a youthful Peter Ustinov) where he teaches German students to salute a portrait of Adolf Hitler with a distinctly Churchillian ‘V’ sign.
