Ian McKellen and Stephen Frears reunite for the sequel to their TV play Walter. The titular character (McKellen) meets a young mother (Sarah Miles) who is suicidally depressed; the two support one another to cope with life in a closed institution.
Ian McKellen and Stephen Frears join forces again with Walter and June, the sequel to their earlier TV play Walter. The titular character (McKellen) has become more institutionalised and is seen as compliant by his fellow doctors and patients. He soon meets June (Sarah Miles), a young mother who has recently been hospitalised due to depression - the two form a strong bonds in Frears' dark but tender portrait.
